What is edgeX (EDGE)?
edgeX is an order book-based derivatives exchange that aims to combine trading performance close to that of centralized exchanges with the non-custodial structure of decentralized finance. Besides cryptocurrencies, the platform offers perpetual futures contracts based on commodities and stocks, as well as spot trading. EDGE is the project token issued on Ethereum.
According to the project, edgeX runs on EDGE Chain, its own application-specific execution layer; this layer contains a dedicated virtual machine for trading logic and a separate EVM-compatible environment for asset issuance and governance. EDGE is used in mechanisms for allocating a share of protocol fees to liquidity providers, in governance processes and in user incentive programs. Circle Ventures, the venture arm of USDC issuer Circle, is reported to be among the platform's investors.
The EDGE price may be affected by trading volume and open interest on the exchange, the relationship between fee income and token holders, rival decentralized derivatives exchanges such as Hyperliquid, the end of incentive programs and token unlocks. The edgeX page on Lzzo.com relies on DefiLlama's US dollar reference price; the chart is also generated from this source's historical series.
