What is Cronos (CRO)?
Cronos is a blockchain ecosystem closely tied to Crypto.com and made up of two main components: the EVM-compatible Cronos EVM and the Cronos POS chain, formerly known as Crypto.org Chain. CRO is used as the native coin on both networks. Cronos EVM is built with the Cosmos SDK; while working compatibly with Ethereum tools, it can connect to the Cosmos ecosystem via IBC.
CRO is used to pay transaction fees, to contribute to network security by being delegated to validators, and in governance. On the Crypto.com platform, CRO has been associated with additional benefits in some products, such as card and rewards programs. Decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and gaming applications run on Cronos EVM; the ecosystem also includes scaling projects such as Cronos zkEVM, which relies on zero-knowledge proofs.
Issues that may affect the CRO price include Crypto.com's product and business decisions, application usage on the network, governance decisions on the token supply and the regulation of crypto exchanges. Lzzo.com uses DefiLlama's dollar-denominated reference price for this asset; the historical series in the chart is also taken from the same source.
