What is Berachain (BERA)?
Berachain is a layer-one blockchain that runs in one-to-one compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and is built with BeaconKit, a framework based on the Cosmos SDK. The project's distinguishing feature is Proof-of-Liquidity, a consensus and incentive model that links network security to liquidity in the ecosystem. BERA is the network's native token; the mainnet launched in 2025.
Berachain uses a three-token structure. BERA is used to pay transaction fees and for validator staking. BGT is a non-transferable governance token; users earn BGT by providing liquidity to approved reward vaults and can convert BGT into BERA whenever they wish. Validators decide which vaults to direct BGT rewards to, and applications can offer incentives to steer this direction in their favour. HONEY is the ecosystem's dollar-oriented stablecoin.
The BERA price can be affected by factors such as trends in network liquidity and application usage, the sustainability of the incentive model, token unlocks and competition with rival EVM-compatible networks. On Lzzo.com, the Berachain price is taken from the BERA/USDT pair on Binance and converted into dollars at Coinbase Exchange's rate; the chart on the page reflects this price series.
