Avalanche

Avalanche is a layer-one platform for building smart contract applications and custom blockchain networks. The mainnet consists of three chains: X-Chain for asset transfers, P-Chain for coordinating validators and subnets, and C-Chain for smart contracts compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Institutions and projects can also create independent networks with their own rules, formerly known as subnets. AVAX is the platform's native token.

The consensus protocols in the Avalanche family rely on validators repeatedly querying small, randomly selected groups to quickly reach a common decision; this method allows transactions to be finalized in a short time. AVAX is used to pay transaction fees on the mainnet, and these fees are burned, removing them from circulation. Validators stake AVAX to join the network; token holders can also delegate their holdings to validators to earn rewards.

The AVAX price can be influenced by factors such as usage on C-Chain and independent Avalanche networks, institutional tokenization projects, the balance between burned fees and staking rewards, and competition with other smart contract platforms.
