aelf

aelf is a layer-one blockchain with a multi-chain architecture made up of a main chain plus side chains that can be dedicated to specific applications. By separating resources, the project aims for scalability and for enterprise or application-specific networks to run within the same ecosystem. ELF is the native token of the aelf network; before the network moved to its mainnet, it had also entered circulation as a token on Ethereum.

Smart contracts are written mainly in C#, and the network runs on AEDPoS, a consensus mechanism derived from delegated proof of stake. Block producers are elected by the votes of ELF holders, so the token is used both to pay transaction fees and to take part in producer elections. Network parameters can be changed through on-chain governance processes. More recently, the project has also put AI-assisted tools and agent applications on its agenda.
