Product information
What is Sugar #11 Futures (SB)?
Sugar No. 11, followed as sugar futures, is the international price benchmark for world raw cane sugar trade. The contract trades on the ICE Futures U.S. exchange, is quoted in cents per pound and is based on delivery of raw sugar loaded onto ships at ports in producing countries.
Brazil is a decisive country in raw sugar production and exports; India and Thailand are also among the significant producers. Because sugarcane in Brazil is used to produce both sugar and ethanol, oil and ethanol prices can affect sugar mills' production choices and therefore sugar supply. India's export policies and monsoon rains also stand out when following the price.
The value on Lzzo.com is based on front-month contract (SB=F) data obtained via Yahoo Finance and is shown after conversion into US dollars. This price relates to raw cane sugar; the retail price of refined sugar in Turkey, produced mainly from sugar beet, is set under different conditions.
