Product information
What is CBOT Rough Rice (ZR)?
Rough rice is rice whose husk has not yet been removed after harvest; at the mill, the husk and bran layer are removed and it is processed into white or brown rice. Rice is a staple food in many regions, Asia in particular; however, because most output is consumed in the countries where it is grown, the share that enters international trade is relatively limited.
The CBOT rough rice futures contract trades on the Chicago Board of Trade, part of CME Group, and is quoted in dollars and cents per hundredweight. The contract is physically delivered: the deliverable product is long-grain rough rice of US Department of Agriculture grade No. two or better, and delivery takes place through warehouses approved by the exchange. Harvest expectations in Arkansas and the surrounding southern states, where US long-grain rice production is concentrated, influence the price; the contract's trading volume is low compared with grain contracts such as wheat and corn.
The value shown on Lzzo.com is based on front-month rough rice contract (ZR=F) data obtained via Yahoo Finance and is presented in US dollars. This price is for wholesale unhusked rice; it does not directly represent rice prices in supermarkets or paddy purchase prices in Türkiye.
