Product information
What is Cumhuriyet Ata Lira (ATA/TRY)?
The Cumhuriyet gold coin (Republic gold) is a twenty-two-karat gold coin bearing a portrait of Ataturk on its obverse, also popularly known as 'Ata lira' or 'Ata altın'. It is struck by the Turkish State Mint (Darphane). With a design different from the ziynet series, the coin is chosen for savings and gifts; larger Ata coins such as the five-lira and two-and-a-half-lira pieces also exist, while this page covers the one-lira coin.
Although close in size to the full ziynet coin, the Cumhuriyet coin is slightly heavier and is struck to a separate coin standard. The model on Lzzo.com calculates the pure gold it contains by multiplying the coin's gross weight under the Mint standard by the twenty-two-karat purity ratio; this amount is converted into Turkish lira using the gold ounce reference (the PAXG token quote) and the daily exchange rate.
At jewelers, the price of the Cumhuriyet coin differs from this model because of workmanship and minting costs, the dealer premium and the buy/sell spread. The value shown is the theoretical equivalent of the coin's gold content, a gold-content model rather than a dealer price, and is not a buy/sell offer. The direction of the value is set jointly by the international gold price per ounce and the USD/TRY rate.
