What is Sempra (SRE)?
Sempra is an energy infrastructure holding company headquartered in San Diego, California. The company was formed in 1998 through the merger of Enova and Pacific Enterprises. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SRE, and it is a member of the S&P 500 index. The group manages regulated electricity and natural gas distribution companies together with energy infrastructure investments.
Its activities fall under three main headings. Sempra California distributes electricity and natural gas to homes and businesses in California through San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company. Sempra Texas Utilities manages the majority stake in Oncor, which transmits and distributes electricity in Texas. Sempra Infrastructure consists of liquefied natural gas facilities, natural gas pipelines and energy projects in Mexico. Because each of these units operates under a different regulatory framework, the group's results depend on many rate and project decisions.
When following Sempra stock, decisions by California and Texas regulators, wildfire risk management, the progress of LNG export projects and interest rate levels are taken into account. On the SRE page at Lzzo.com the price is shown in US dollars, and a price chart and technical indicators appear on the same page.
