Southern Company is an electricity and natural gas holding company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SO, and it is a member of the S&P 500 index. The group operates through regulated utilities across the southeastern United States.
At the center of the structure are subsidiaries such as Alabama Power and Georgia Power, which generate, transmit and distribute electricity.
