What is Philip Morris International Inc. (PM)?
Philip Morris International Inc. is a tobacco and nicotine products company that became independent when it separated from Altria in 2008. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker PM and are included in S&P's broad-based US stock index. Its US base is in Stamford, Connecticut, while its operational management center is in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The company sells cigarette brands such as Marlboro, L&M and Chesterfield in markets outside the United States. In recent years it has been widening its business model toward smoke-free products: the IQOS heated tobacco system, VEEV vapor products and ZYN nicotine pouches, which arrived with the 2022 acquisition of Swedish Match, are the main parts of that group. The product range therefore covers both traditional cigarettes and nicotine-containing alternatives.
Those following the stock usually watch regulation of tobacco and nicotine products, tax changes and the progress of smoke-free products in the market. On the PM page at Lzzo.com the price is shown in US dollars, and the page also includes a price chart and technical indicators.
