What is MTU Aero Engines AG (MTX.DE)?
MTU Aero Engines AG is a German aircraft engine company headquartered in Munich, and its roots go back to 1934. Its shares trade on the Xetra platform in Frankfurt under the ticker MTX, and it is one of the companies in the DAX 40, the main index of the Frankfurt stock exchange.
MTU works in two main areas. In engine production, the company runs partnership programs with the major aircraft engine makers, in which it develops and builds particular modules of the engines, for example low-pressure turbines and high-pressure compressors. On the military side it takes part in engine programs for combat aircraft and helicopters in Europe. The maintenance segment performs maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial aircraft engines and operates facilities in Germany, North America and Asia for this purpose.
The long service life of engine programs spreads maintenance income over time. The company's results are followed together with aircraft deliveries, flight hours and engine maintenance demand.
