Evergy, Inc. is an electric utility company headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. The company was formed in 2018 through the merger of Westar Energy and Great Plains Energy. Its shares have traded on Nasdaq under the ticker EVRG since 2022; they were previously listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The company is a member of the S&P 500 index.
The group supplies electricity to residential, business and industrial customers in Kansas and Missouri through regulated subsidiaries. These include Evergy Kansas Central, Evergy Metro and Evergy Missouri West. The generation portfolio is made up of coal, natural gas, nuclear, wind and solar sources, and the Wolf Creek nuclear plant in Kansas is an important part of it. Wind resources in the Midwest form the basis of the company's renewable energy production.
