What is Taiwan TAIEX Index (TAIEX)?

The TAIEX (Taiwan Capitalization Weighted Stock Index) is the index published by the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and covers a broad portion of the common shares listed on the exchange. It is weighted by company value and uses 1966 as its base year. Thanks to its wide coverage, it offers an overall picture of the Taiwanese stock market as a whole.

Because Taiwan holds a critical position in chip manufacturing and the electronics supply chain, semiconductor and electronics companies carry marked weight in the index. This structure makes the TAIEX sensitive to global technology demand, to investment in smartphone and artificial intelligence hardware, and to the chip cycle. For this reason, the index's path is often assessed together with US technology stocks.

The value of the New Taiwan dollar, foreign investor flows and regional geopolitical developments can also influence the index. On Lzzo.com, the Taiwan TAIEX Index is shown in points using Yahoo Finance data; this value is not a share price.
