What is BIST Technology Index (XUTEK)?
The BIST Technology index is calculated under the code XUTEK and is one of Borsa Istanbul's main sector indices. Its scope includes companies that develop software or provide IT services and hardware, as well as firms working in defense electronics and the defense industry; IT companies are also tracked separately through the BIST Information Technology index.
According to Borsa Istanbul's index card, XUTEK is a capitalization-weighted price index. Its value is calculated in Turkish lira and published in points; companies with a high free-float value have a stronger influence on the index level.
Those following technology shares count demand for software and hardware, public and defense tenders, export contracts, R&D spending and exchange rates among the factors they watch.
