What is BIST Industrial Index (XUSIN)?
The BIST Industrial (BIST Sinai) index is the main sector gauge covering Borsa Istanbul companies active in manufacturing and is calculated under the code XUSIN. Food and beverages, textiles and leather, forest products and paper, chemicals-petroleum-plastics, non-metallic minerals, basic metals, fabricated metal products, machinery and automotive companies all sit under this umbrella.
The index is a capitalization-weighted price index; it is calculated in Turkish lira and published in points. Large industrial companies with a high free-float value, such as automakers, refiners or glassmakers, can have a greater effect on the index level. Each sub-group is also tracked through its own sector index.
XUSIN is used to follow how industry-specific variables, such as export demand, energy and raw material costs, currency movements and capacity utilization data, feed through to the stock market. The BIST Industrial page on Lzzo.com features the index chart, technical indicators and the option to compare it with the Financials or Services indices.
