What is BIST Holdings & Investment Index (XHOLD)?
The BIST Holdings and Investment index is calculated under the code XHOLD and covers holding companies that own affiliates across different sectors, as well as investment companies. Much of these companies' value comes from subsidiaries operating in areas such as energy, banking, industry, retail or real estate. The index is classified under Borsa Istanbul's Financials main sector.
On its index card, XHOLD is defined as a capitalization-weighted price index with no weight cap; it is calculated in Turkish lira and tracked in points. Large holding companies with a high free-float value can be decisive for the index level.
Those assessing holding shares frequently follow net asset value, calculated from the stock market and book values of the affiliates, and the discount between that value and the holding's own stock market valuation; portfolio changes, sales of affiliates and dividend policies are also among the topics watched. The page on Lzzo.com presents XHOLD's points history and technical indicators together with a comparison tool.
