What is The Sandbox (SAND)?
The Sandbox is a blockchain-based virtual world project where users can design games and interactive experiences on virtual plots of land. The project grew out of a mobile game series developed by Pixowl and was later brought to blockchain under Animoca Brands. Land in this world is represented by NFTs called LAND; users can design voxel-based assets with VoxEdit and create experiences without writing code using the Game Maker tool.
SAND is the utility token of The Sandbox ecosystem. It is used in in-platform transactions such as buying land and assets, in ecosystem funding and in governance processes; token holders can earn rewards by staking SAND. The token is issued on Ethereum and also has contracts on Polygon and Base. Beyond its use within the platform, SAND gives no right over the corporate earnings of Animoca Brands.
