What is Stacks (STX)?
Stacks is a Bitcoin layer that aims to bring smart contracts and decentralized applications to Bitcoin. The project was formerly known as Blockstack, so some data sources list it under its old identity. Stacks blocks are anchored to Bitcoin; with the Nakamoto upgrade, the design was strengthened so that reversing confirmed Stacks transactions would also require reorganizing the Bitcoin chain. Smart contracts are written in Clarity, a language that emphasizes readability and predictability.
The network uses a consensus mechanism called Proof of Transfer: miners spend Bitcoin to mint new STX, and that Bitcoin is distributed to users who lock up their STX (stacking). STX is also used for transaction fees. In the ecosystem, sBTC is an asset designed to represent Bitcoin one-to-one that can be used in Stacks applications.
The Stacks price on Lzzo.com is calculated from Binance STX/USDT trades and converted to US dollars using Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate; it is for information only.
