Product information
What is Merlin Chain (MERL)?
Merlin Chain is a Bitcoin layer-two solution that aims to let assets and applications in the Bitcoin ecosystem be used at lower cost and with more flexibility. In its own documentation, the project says it combines components such as zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-Rollup) technology, a decentralized oracle network and fraud proofs. The network is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
Merlin Chain began operating in early 2024 and focused on bridging Bitcoin itself and Ordinals-based assets to the network. The MERL token was distributed through an event called Merlin's Seal, in which users staked their assets to collect points; DefiLlama tracks this structure in its bridge category. CoinGecko, for its part, lists the project in its Bitcoin sidechain and layer-two network categories.
MERL is the network's governance token and exists as a token on Ethereum and BNB Chain as well as on Merlin Chain. The MERL price on Lzzo.com is taken from DefiLlama's US dollar reference data; this price is for information only.
