What is OKB?
OKB is a utility token issued in 2018 by the cryptocurrency exchange OKX (formerly OKEx). Originally created under the Ethereum token standard, OKB is used within the exchange ecosystem for trading fee discounts, participation in token distribution events such as Jumpstart, and various platform privileges.
Over time, the token's role expanded toward OKX's own chain infrastructure. On X Layer, the layer-two network OKX built on Ethereum, OKB serves as the native gas token used to pay transaction fees. In August 2025, the exchange announced that it had carried out a large-scale burn that fixed the token's total supply and that it would phase out the earlier OKTChain structure.
