What is Celestia (TIA)?
Celestia is a modular consensus and data availability network where teams that want to build their own application chain or rollup can publish transaction data. Unlike classic blockchains, it does not focus on executing smart contracts; it orders blocks and seeks to ensure that the data they contain is available to everyone. TIA is the native coin of this network, which is built with the Cosmos SDK.
The network's core technique is data availability sampling (DAS): light nodes can confirm that data has actually been published by checking small random pieces of a block without downloading all of it. This allows verification costs to stay low as block capacity grows. Rollups write their data to Celestia in packages called blobs and pay the fee for this in TIA. TIA is also staked to validators for proof-of-stake security, used in on-chain governance and may be chosen as the gas token on some rollups.
The TIA price may be affected by demand for data publishing, changes in the number of rollups using Celestia, competition with Ethereum's own blob space and other data availability solutions, and periodic token unlocks. The dollar price shown on the Lzzo.com page is based on Binance's TIA/USDT trades; the USDT amount is converted into dollars at the USDT/USD rate on Coinbase Exchange, and the chart is drawn from the same series.
