What is Arweave (AR)?
Arweave is a decentralized storage network that aims to store data indefinitely in exchange for a one-time fee. The body of web pages, applications and archives hosted on the network is called the permaweb; NFT metadata, documents and historical records are common examples in this space. AR is the native token of the Arweave network.
When uploading data, users pay a fee in AR; part of this fee goes into an endowment set aside to pay miners who store data in the future. The design rests on the assumption that storage costs will fall over time. To produce new blocks, miners have to prove they can access randomly selected pieces of past data on the network, which encourages the data to be preserved in many copies. AO, a parallel computing environment built on Arweave, is extending the network's scope towards computation.
Factors that shape AR's price include the amount of data uploaded to the network, developments in the permaweb and AO ecosystems, supply from miner rewards and competition in decentralized storage. For Arweave, Lzzo.com takes the AR/USDT price on Binance, converts it into dollars at the Coinbase Exchange rate and shows this dollar series on the chart.
