Crypto Calculator
Convert Bitcoin and other crypto assets to US dollars, euros or Turkish lira, and work out average cost and profit or loss from your own buy and sell prices.
Buy prices and sell price
Result
Enter an amount and a price per unit for at least one buy. Nothing is calculated without data.
Average cost = total cost ÷ total amount. Profit or loss = sale value − amount sold × average cost.
Calculated only from the numbers you enter; fees, taxes and exchange-rate differences are not included. The result is for information only and is not investment advice.
How does the crypto calculator work?
The tool does two jobs: it converts crypto assets to US dollars, euros or Turkish lira, and it works out average cost, profit and loss from the buy and sell prices you enter. The price and exchange rate in a conversion are printed with their observation times; the profit and loss tab uses only the numbers you type in.
How is a crypto asset converted to dollars or lira?
A conversion takes two steps. The amount is first multiplied by the asset’s observed price in US dollars, which gives the value in dollars. For Turkish lira or euros that value is then multiplied by the observed exchange rate. The result is therefore price times rate: the price base stays the US dollar, and a lira or euro value appears only when a rate has been observed. Converting the other way, from a currency to a coin, divides the amount by the rate and then by the price.
When were the price and the rate observed?
Next to the result the page prints the observation time of the crypto price and of the exchange rate, in UTC. The price comes from the latest trade observation at the source; the rate is an observed reference rate that may update once a day, so the two times need not match. When no price or rate has been observed the tool shows no value and never falls back on an old or estimated figure. The result is not an exchange, bank or platform price, and commissions and spreads are not included.
How is the average cost calculated?
Average cost is total cost divided by total amount. For each buy, the amount is multiplied by the price per unit; adding these products gives the total cost, and dividing that by the total amount bought gives the average cost per unit. When the same asset was bought several times at different prices, each buy counts in proportion to its amount, so a large buy moves the average more than a small one.
How are profit and loss worked out?
The sale value is the amount sold multiplied by the sell price. Profit or loss is that value minus the amount sold multiplied by the average cost: a positive result is a gain, a negative one a loss. The return is the gain or loss divided by the cost. The calculation uses only the numbers you enter, leaves out fees, taxes and exchange-rate differences, and says nothing about future prices.
