Thales S.A. is a French technology group headquartered in the Paris area. The company was formed in 2000 when Thomson-CSF took the name Thales. Its shares trade on Euronext Paris under the ticker HO and it is included in the CAC 40, the main index of the Paris exchange.

Thales operates in three areas. In defense and security it makes radar and sonar systems, electronic warfare and command and control systems, and military communications equipment. In aerospace it offers aircraft avionics, flight management systems, air traffic management and satellite systems. In cyber and digital it provides digital identity, data security and secure authentication products for banking and telecoms; this area grew with the acquisition of Gemalto in 2019. Customers include governments, armed forces, airlines and corporations.
