Synchrony Financial is a consumer financial services company headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. The company separated from General Electric's consumer finance unit and went public in 2014. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SYF, and it is a member of the S&P 500 index. Its subsidiary Synchrony Bank is a deposit-taking bank.
The business model rests on partnerships with retailers, brands and healthcare providers. On behalf of these partners, the company offers private-label and co-branded credit cards and installment loan programs, and the customer using the card shops directly at the partner's store or platform. In health and wellness, a financing product called CareCredit is run, used to pay for services such as veterinary, dental and cosmetic care. Operations are reported across sales platforms such as home and auto, digital, diversified and value, health and wellness, and lifestyle.
