MetLife, Inc. is a US insurance and retirement services company headquartered in New York; its roots go back to Metropolitan Life, founded in 1868. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker MET and are included in S&P's broad-based US stock index. The company offers life insurance and financial protection products to corporate customers and individuals.
MetLife's operations are tracked by region and by product. The Group Benefits segment offers employers life, disability, dental and similar employee insurance.
