What is Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA.AX)?
Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is a Sydney-based Australian bank. It was founded as a government bank in 1911 and was gradually privatized in the 1990s. Its shares trade on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) under the ticker CBA.
Retail banking is decisive in CBA's operations: home loans, deposit accounts, credit cards and digital channels such as NetBank and the CommBank app form the basis of this area. Business banking provides lending and payment services to small and medium-sized companies, while the institutional banking and markets division serves large companies and institutions. The bank operates in New Zealand through ASB Bank, and CommSec provides brokerage services to individual investors.
For CBA stock, the Reserve Bank of Australia's interest rate decisions, house prices and credit demand, competition in the home loan market, the proportion of loans in arrears and cost management are watched. The shares trade in Australian dollars; on the Lzzo.com page, however, the price is shown in US dollars together with a chart and technical indicators.
