What is ZetaChain (ZETA)?
ZetaChain is a layer-one blockchain that aims to enable 'omnichain' smart contracts that interact directly with assets and data on different blockchains. The network, whose mainnet launched in 2024, was built with the Cosmos SDK and is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. The project highlights that it can also interact with networks such as Bitcoin that lack their own smart contract support.
ZETA is the network's native token: it is used to pay transaction fees, for validator staking and in governance processes. Besides the ZetaChain network, the token also has contracts on Ethereum and BNB Chain. The security of cross-chain transactions depends on the operation of the network's validators and observer nodes; for this reason, security design carries particular weight in interoperability infrastructure.
On Lzzo.com, the ZetaChain price is based on DefiLlama's US dollar reference and is for information only. The token's value can be affected by application usage on the network and demand for cross-chain transactions. Applications developed on the network aim to let users manage their assets on different chains from a single interface.
