What is Ondo Finance (ONDO)?
Ondo Finance is a tokenization company that brings traditional financial products onto the blockchain. Its products include OUSG and USDY, which are based on short-term US Treasury bills, and Ondo Global Markets, which offers tokenized representations of stocks and exchange-traded funds. These products are generally subject to identity verification and eligibility requirements.
ONDO, by contrast, is a governance token; it does not represent a share in any fund or any right over the assets underlying the products. It is used in the governance processes of Ondo DAO and in decisions of protocols linked to the ecosystem, such as Flux Finance. The token was issued on Ethereum and became transferable in January 2024. The ecosystem has also announced that it is developing a blockchain called Ondo Chain for institutional assets.
