Product information
What is Palladium Spot (PA)?
Palladium is a silvery-white metal belonging to the platinum group. Most demand comes from catalytic converters that transform harmful exhaust gases in gasoline-powered vehicles; electronics, dentistry, the chemical industry and jewelry are among its other uses.
Palladium supply is concentrated in a few countries: Russia and South Africa are the main sources of production, and Canada and the US are also among producing countries. Because palladium is mostly extracted as a by-product of nickel and platinum mining, supply may not respond quickly to price changes. The spread of electric vehicles is a long-term topic watched for catalyst demand tied to internal combustion engines.
On Lzzo.com, palladium is shown in US dollars per troy ounce using NYMEX palladium futures (PA=F) data obtained via Yahoo Finance. The futures price can diverge from the spot market and from physical selling prices. Because trading volume in the contracts is more limited than in gold and silver, price moves can at times be sharp.
